scattered project notes

project intent/goals:
*transparent critique of the MoMA
*must be at the MoMA when working on the project

-analysis:
 museum's structure
 rules and regulations
 membership/VIP events

-case study
renovation and increase in ticket prices

-MoMA as a "model"
similarities to other architectural structures spatially and sensorially
(shop, restaurant, escalator, crowds etc similar to malls)

-using space to reveal information
-subverting limitations

questions:
-how does outside context exist in relationship to the museum and what does it mean for the MoMA to go outside(advertising..) ?

 starting the process....

*how do I become the conduit?
  finding my role

-documentation-artistic visualizations of time spent at the MoMA
   aesthetic response to data
-schedule interviews with MoMA employees (document everything!)

Jean Nouvel and the MoMA

"...melding of cultural and commercial worlds.."

"...the Modern pressed for a talented architect, insisting on veto power over the selection."

"Architecture is a form of marketing now..."

"...Mr Nouvel sees the modern grid as confining and dogmatic. His tower's contorted forms are a scream for freedom."

"In short, it would have to embrace a fearlessness that it hasn't shown in decades."

"MoMA would do well to take a cue from Ruskin, who wrote that great art, whether expressed in words, colors or stones, does not say the same thing over and over again."
